Ex-Tech pitcher Tomlin stars in Cleveland debut

Former Texas Tech baseball player Josh Tomlin made a splash in his major league debut with the Cleveland Indians last night. Tomlin took a shutout into the eighth inning in helping the Indians beat the Yankees 4 to 1. Cleveland manager Manny Acta called it an outstanding effort, saying, quote: “He’s the poster boy for what we want — pitchers throwing strikes.” Tomlin spent  one season with the Red Raiders after transferring from Angelina Junior College in 2006. He was a 19th-round pick later that summer in the June draft.
