You Don’t Have To Be At Home For FEMA Visit

If you are staying at home, waiting for FEMA to survey your property for damage from the recent bad weather, you don’t have to wait.

Crews from FEMA are in town this week, and perhaps beyond, surveying the damage from the heavy rains.  If you have been staying at home so you won’t miss FEMA, the public information officer for FEMA, Brad Craine, says don’t worry.

“A lot of times, people will say, ‘Will I have to be home for these assessment teams to come around.’  No they don’t.” Craine said.

“The state representative, the FEMA representative and the SBA representative, a lot of times, we do what we call windshield or drive-by time.  We don’t have to get out and talk to every homeowner or every renter.”

And Craine said you can go ahead and clean up your property — you don’t have to wait for the FEMA visit.
