Neugebauer: Promotional signs for stimulus programs cost millions.

Congressman Randy Neugebauer is criticizing the use of promotional signs for Obama administration stimulus projects. He issued a statement yesterday after voting to potentially save taxpayers tens of millions of dollars through an initiative called YouCut. Neugebauer said over 1.3 million votes have been cast to cut spending through YouCut, yet Congress has failed to approve any of the money-saving measures. Neugebauer said House Republicans tried yesterday to force a vote prohibiting the funding of promotional signs for stimulus projects after this proposal received the most YouCut votes. He said tax-funded advertisements have already cost tens of millions of dollars, and yesterday’s effort was aimed at heading off future spending on such signs while recouping the costs of those already in place. But, he said, the Democrats in Congress refused to make the cut.  Information about the YouCut initiative can be found online at http://republicanwhip.house.gov/YouCut .
