LP&L bills of June 21st will show a new $7 charge

Customers of Lubbock Power and Light can expect a higher charge for electricity starting today. Any bills printed on or after June 21st will have an average of 7 dollars added to cover LP&L’s share of an 1.8 million dollar fuel cost. This is to match rates with Xcel Energy before they are bought out by LP&L. Xcel had already raised the rate for their customers to cover it’s increased bills last year. Because of the buy-out LP&L would not be able to charge former Xcel customers the coverage price again.
