Three new principals have been approved by the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees.
Ofelia Mendez has been named as the new principal of Guadalupe Elementary School, Drue Coleman is the new principal at Maedgen Elementary, and Ann Archer will be the next principal at Overton Elementary.
LISD Superintendent Karen Garza said “These individuals will provide continuity to the great things already happening on their campuses and are extremely well-equipped to hit the ground running.”
Also, some changes will go into effect for students on LISD campuses this fall in regards to the dress code.
Male students will be allowed to wear earrings, as well as have hair longer than shoulder length, and wear pony and rat tail hairstyles.
Both genders of students will be allowed to have their hair with color variations and patterns, as well as more unique haircuts such as the Mohawk cut.
All these changes will be allowed, as long as they don’t become distractions in the classroom.
