LISD Board of Trustees Announce New Principals for 10-11 School Year

In addition to a new police chief, the LISD Board of Trustees ratified Superintendent Karen Garza’s recommendations of new principals for the 2010-11 school year.

Joe Williams, current principal of Roy Roberts Elementary School, has been named the new principal for Monterey High School.

His position at Roy Roberts Elementary will be filled by current Assistant Principal Shirley Hutchins.  

The former MHS principal Al Griggs will be filling the role of director at the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center.

Kelly Smiley will become the new principal at Centennial Elementary, taking the place of Glen Teal as he takes the role as principal of O.L. Slaton Middle School.  

Teal was preceded by Shelly Bratcher, who has been named as the new implementation coordinator for the C-Scope District Curriculum.

Other promotions to principal include Johnna Weatherbee for Iles Elementary, Lori Alexander for Smith Elementary, Stace Mc Ewin for Stewart Elementary, Kevin Booe for Williams Elementary, and Nancy Parker for Ramirez Charter Elementary.

At the last board meeting Julie Sims was named principal of Wester Elementary, pushing the total number of principal positions filled to ten.
