St. Paul’s observes a 100th-year anniversary

St. Paul’s-on-the Plains Episcopal Church in Lubbock is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a yearlong observance. On Sunday, the three Episcopal Churches of Lubbock– St. Paul’s, St. Christopher’s and St. Stephen’s– will join in an outdoor service at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Historic Church in Clapp Park at 41st and University. This was St. Paul’s original church building, constructed in 1914, moved twice, and ending up at its present location. St. Paul’s is the oldest public building remaining in the city.St. Paul’s rector, the Rev. James P. Haney says that in case of bad weather the service will be moved to St. Paul’s present church at 1510 Avenue X.
