Sign Wars on the Campaign Trail

In the race for city council, District 5, there’s a dispute going on about campaign signs.

According to Steve Lampman, one of the candidates, it started as Lampman came across his opponent, Karen Gibson, and her husband Scott, as Lampman was driving down the street.

Lampman said he saw the Gibsons removing his signs on 82nd Street.

“I thought that was rather strange, and so I confronted them, and they said they had every right to take down my signs,” said Lampman during an interview on KFYO.

The Gibsons don’t deny taking down some of Lampman’s signs.  Scott Gibson says the signs he and his wife took down were on properties where the Gibson’s received permission exclusively to put up their signs.  Scott Gibson said he took down Lampman’s signs only after getting permission from the property owners.

“I was asked by the property owners to remove those signs…which I did,” Gibson said.

So where does that leave Lampman?  What’s his next move?

“Not anything at all.”
